Compensation Must Meet Work Needs

Compensation or wage is similar to a monetary reward given to the worker after the work is completed. It is the fundamental right of laborers to be paid immediately after the work is completed. And the wage must be sufficient to compensate workers for their efforts. However, it has been observed and reported that a high proportion of workers are not being paid in accordance with the work performed.

Farmers are the backbone of a country's economy. They are involved in the production of essential foods such as vegetables, fruits, and grains. Many workers are employed in the million-dollar industry of producing lucrative products such as coffee, clothing, and chocolates. They, too, face issues such as poverty and low living standards.

To put an end to discriminatory behavior at the grassroots level, the Fair-trade movement was launched in order to reduce poverty, worker mistreatment, climate change, and economic constraints around the world. In the year 2004, the organization that advocates for workers' equal rights were founded. Its motivation and demand are to treat workers fairly who work hard to produce items that are necessary for the survival and betterment of the world's population.

The second Saturday of May is set aside to commemorate the World Fair Trade Organization's inception of the fair-trade movement. Several festivals are planned around the world to commemorate the Fair-Trade Campaign and encourage others to join the fight for better worker rights.
